Charges were filed by the City of Ironton after Jose Maria DeCastro refused to leave a city building after closing hours, claiming his unpermitted 'training class' was now a 'protest'. After a court date was set regarding a possible violation of conditional release which Mr. DeCastro claimed was a 'set up,' Mr. DeCastro left town and a bench warrant was issued when he failed to appear on the scheduled court date.
Jose DeCastro has ofen stated that he hired one of the best Ohio criminal defense lawers to "get rid of" the Ohio warrant. In May, 2026, a Notice of Appearance was filed with the court, but without any documentation. While this may be the "best lawyer" DeCastro spoke of, as of late September 2026, DeCastro is not listed on the Ironton Municipal Court calendar for any scheduled court proceedings through September of 2027.
